|Absenteeism in my team has taken its toll on me. It seems that nothing works for those people who do not appreciate that I am extending to them. Instead of being grateful some of them seem to just ask for more as if I owe them big time. Inggrata!
I have bent the rules- even it means costing my job. That’s why it makes me even more frustrated when I could not count on the same people during critical times.
Today, for the first time in 3 years, I have denied a vacation request. I guess I just have to learn how to say "NO" on some requests especially to those people who doesn’t reciprocate the extra effort I am extending them. I am afraid I now have to be a "by-the book-supervisor" even if it means terminating people. No more bending over backwards for me. These people just have to learn.
