E-Ring
Wednesday, June 13, 2007

I have posted in my previous that I am now fond of dvd series which has something to do with crimes and war.

Currently, I am hook with E-Ring which stars Benjamin Pratt as Maj. tuned Lt. Col. Jim Tisnewski. This is another Jerry Bruckheimer productions and so the moment i saw this series in the Crime Suspense channel, it really caught my interest. Ering

This series is not as hard-core action as 24. This involves strategic plannning done in the most important ring of Pentagon for any military action that US takes in any part of the world.

I really love watching this. If 24 answers the "how" (meaning Jack Bauer will be as ruthless as possible just to get things done), E-ring takes charge of the "what."
It was great, a thousand times better than most of the programs on today. It showed the military from a perspective that few people get to see. It is all to rare when you see officers concentrating on the men and mission and not the politics. These few officers are greatly appreciated by the public. The show was complete from top to bottom. It had great suspense and conflict and it told a great story. The Show is so realistic that it's scary to see how much insight the public has to the Department of Defense. Politics versus Soldiers is the classic struggle that we face everyday. There is nothing on TV better than this show.

From the series, i specifically loved Episode 17- whe somewhere just across the boarder of the North Korean waters, a submarine that Jim's bestfriend, Bobby together with his team, collides with a North Korean nuclear submarine, damaging it. Initially, the korean captain bluffed Bobby that they got nukes in their ship and that Bobby's team should save his (korean) crew in exchange of the nuke. And so Bobby's team did; only to find out that there actually wasn't any nuke. It was just a ploy; a desperate attempt of the korean captain to save his people. The Korean commander is eager for the Americans to save his crew, but he must work against his own countrymen, who have sent another vessel to kill everyone aboard rather than allowing the Americans to get their hands on the Korean submarine. Bobby's team could have save the entire korean crew but due to the limited capacity of their vessel, only 24 people could fit in. There are still 14 crews left on the korean vessel. The people (who were initially) left in the korean people got families while those who are already on the american vessell got nobody. It was soOoOOo touching to see that these people (with no families) have volunteered to be left in ther vessel in spite of the fact that they know, anytime soon, their comrades (from another korean vessel) will attack them. The Korean captain, eventhough he got his family chose his crew, and he said: LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND. I AM GOING TO STAY IN MY SHIP...WITH MY MEN. He just handed a letter to Bobby to be sent to his family. Ay sus! nakakaiyak talaga!

I just hope that there is a season 2 of this series... This is something that I would recommend Russell to watch to when he gets home. :)
