Honeymoon Destination, anyone?!?
Thursday, August 02, 2007
I’m having a run-down of the things that Russell and I was able to accomplish concerning our wedding, so far, we have completed the following:

FULLY PAID/DONE:

  • Event Stylist
  • Reception Venue
  • String Quintet
  • Cocktail Services
  • Event Stylist
  • Legal and (some) church Requirements (Marriage license, Baptismal and Confirmation Certificate, CENOMAR)

PARTIALLY PAID:

  • Church
  • Caterer
  • Bridal Bouquet and Entourage Flowers
  • Bridal Gown and Entourage Gowns
  • On-the-Day Coordination
  • Photo and Video Services
  • Cake
  • Hair and Make Up Artist
  • Full Drapes
  • 5000 lumens ANSI projector
  • On-The-Day Wedding Coordinator

STILL LOOKING:

  • Groom's Tuxedo
  • Invitation
  • Souvenirs
  • Hotel Accomodation (for on the day wedding preparation)
  • Wine and Alcohol Supplier

FREE:

  • Emcee
  • Bridal Car
  • After-Dinner Performer (acoustic and show band)
  • Lechon (ewww!)

TO BE DONE:

  • Misalette
  • Table Numbers
  • Save-the-Date Card
  • Prenuptial Shoot
  • Floor Lay-out Plan
  • Final Meeting with the Suppliers

Russell and I have been relying on the power of internet when booking our suppliers. We’re grabbing every opportunity of getting discounts on every supplier. I guess one of the perks of early wedding preparation is that you’re able to choose the suppliers that you want and haggle for price discount.

I’ve done hotel ocular inspections way back April but I just couldn’t decide which among those I have visited we’re gonna check in come December 21. I have done ocular visits to Astoria Plaza, Richmonde Hotel, Makati Shang ri-La, Bayview Park, Manila Pavilion, Manila Hotel, Sofitel (formerly Westin Philippine Plaza), and G Hotel (a new hotel in Roxas Blvd. managed by the Waterfront Cebu Hotel). It’s already August and by the end of this month, I should have accomplished doing the hotel reservation. Otherwise, we’re gonna run out of suites to book. I am really not after the name or grand staircase. All I want is a spacious and well-lit room to make me, our families, and suppliers comfortable working in two suites.

Being the frugal person that I am, I didn’t book any hotel that early because I want to know and maximize the hotel discounts that we could have. Some of my fellow w@w brides say that getting a membership card will entitle me various hotel discounts.

While listing these things I noticed, "Where the hell are we going to have our honeymoon?" Damn! I almost forgot one of the most important part of getting married- the honeymoon! LOL HmMmMm, honestly, we don’t know yet where we’re going to have our honeymoon. Russell would like it to be abroad (Singapore or Japan) but I’d like to have a local honeymoon. I would like to visit Palawan resorts because I have never been there! Please, no more Boracay beach! It’s just too exploited and used, just my humble opinion.

Aside from searching the net, I’m reviewing all the flyers from bridal fairs and some leaflets from credit card statements in the hope of finding the best deal for our honeymoon. Then, I found this site.

I tried getting a quotation from this site and it seems that we are getting a pretty sweet deal from this online reservation. From the way it looks, if we are going to have our honeymoon in Bali, Indonesia, we’re gonna save as much as 40% on hotel bookings on January. If we’re going to have our honeymoon in Boracay (ewww!), it’s gonna be 35% less. Still a good deal eh? Oh well, I’ve been also thinking of going to Davao or Phuket Thailand but I guess, I still have to do a lot of homework.

Do you have any recommendations for honeymoon destinations?

Hi. Try Lonely Planet's Haystack too for accomodations. All the properties that they list have been reviewed.

My cousin makes handcrafted jewelry. She's made some as a bride's gift to her entourage. You might want to check it out.

Happy planning. I'm sure your wedding will be fabulous.
