"Can I just check those diplomas because I just want to make sure that they are not from some med school in the Philippines.".
So much has been said about the particular episode of Desperate Housewives. So here is my take on this issue. Whilst it sounded really foul for us, I wouldn't really take it against the writer. Maybe, it's really the medical school that is being questioned. Maybe, it's where those diplomas came from. Err...Does Recto ring a bell to you? What ever reason he has for including that line in the script, I would just care less. Rather, I would embrace that remark as a challenge not just for our medical health workers but to the entire Filipino as well. Come on, admit it. Ilang controversies na ang yumanig sa medical league because of the confirmed leakage on board examinations? Bata pa ko, alam ko na ung leakage sa nursing board ng Fatima College (they topped the nursing board exam yata) na ikinaburyong ng USTE.
Maybe, what was said was very out of line. Maybe this remark is derogatory but nonetheless, this should be a challenge not just for the medical workforce but to the entire Filipino as well. Nakakapagod ng maging sentro ng katatawanan at kutyaan. And to those Americans out there, you may feel that you are the most superior beings but please don't forget that those incompetent health workers are the ones taking care the large portion of your aging and dying baby boomers. During WW2, the Philippines is the only ally that you had. Don't be ungrateful.
