Web Hosting
Friday, May 16, 2008
When I finally decided to get a domain of my own, I was really strucked with the problem on how I would get a web host or if, in the first palce, I should find a reseller web hosting service. Of course, getting a web host takes a lot of consideration before finally deciding which one you're gonna be settle for like the testimonial from its customers, the affordability and reliability of the service. For somebody like me who is not that expert when it comes to the quality of getting a web host, getting relevant information and tutorials about web hosting will help us a lot. It takes time though. But if learning on a slower pace until I can be savvy of the tricks of the trade means long term benefit, I would not hesitate to go into those kind of web hosting lessons.

Wealthy Affiliate
Wednesday, April 02, 2008
I bet, most of you guys have heard of Brian Gorrell's misfortune over his blog. The focal point of his blog is to get "justice" and by getting justice means getting back his $70,000au. Allegedly, he was swindled by one Pinoy (trying hard) socialite. His blog gets an average of 400,000 visitors in a day. That's quite high for a personal blog. Perhaps this is the reason why Google contacted him to put some ads on his blog. I was thinking the same when I learned about the traffic that his blog is generating. He could earn at least a thousand per week by having some ads and joining some affiliate programs. His online income can be used for his treatment since he is an HIV positive.

Most of my readers here earn through sponsored blogging. While I had many bloggers who have earned through some affiliate programs, I haven't earned anything from any of those affiliate programs. Through blog hopping, I learned of Wealthy Affiliate program. Wealthy Affiliate is a program which helps people start making money online, no start up cost, 8 week training program, keyword tool, website builder, free hosting. 29.99/month, and most importantly, the program has a huge community to help new users. Interested in this program?

Finding the Best Web Hosting Service
Sunday, March 23, 2008
It took me a while before I finally decided to get my own domain. Though I am not that technology challenged, the term web hosting is alien to me. Per wikipedia, web hosting is defined as a type of internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the world wide web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity typically in a data center Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. Wheew! There's a lot of jargon in the definition. I am now thinking that I am a website-challenged person. LOL Anyhoo, since I only have a pernal web page, I opted to have a single page hosting. I admit, I didn't do enough research when I acquired web hosting service. I didn't have the chance to browse the websites of those best web hosting services available. www.kaushalsheth.com is a website that give guide web hosting. This is something that will definitely web host users like me. :)

Hosting Contract
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
One of the things that I have considered before buying my domain was the hosting service and its contract. I admit that I am not a webby genius and so thinking of many factors such as hosting contract is something that I have to think about over and over again. Currently, I am using a blogger hosting service but I really find it too simple (though easier for me to understand.) Maybe, in the future when I get more familiarize with how hostings ervice works, I might opt for another hosting service provider. Lunarpages Offer for DreamHost Customers is too tempting. Their basic plan just increased and is massive and ideal for bloggers! One can get 15,000GB of Transfer & 1,500GB of storage, free domain name & 10 add-on domains for $6.95 a month + loads more. They have been in business for over 8 years & they provide beginner (LPQuicksite), basic, business, windows, Linux, VPS & dedicated hosting services. Their plans support Ruby on Rails, JSP/ASP & they have PHP5 & MySQL5 servers & all their plans all come with unlimited databases, email accounts, FTP accounts & parked domains. Lunarpages also pays generous affiliate commissions $65 and if you sell one of our dedicated hosting plans thet will pay $180. You can also find that information here: http://www.lunarpages.com/affiliate. On top of that, Lunarpages has created a coupon code just for all its subscribers! Use code DHRefugees to receive $40 off hosting with Lunarpages! We will also add up to 9 months of paid time the customer has spent with their DreamHost contract to all former DreamHost customers! HUbby is the one who is seriously thinking about getting this since he is the more proficient one when it comes to techy stuff liek this. Now that he is also doing sponsored opps, he is into re-designing his website to make it more appealing to the eye of its readers.

Audio Ads
Tuesday, January 15, 2008
I am very much exposed to web advertisements such as the Google adsense. The computation of how one can earn through this kind of advertisement is quite tedious. I thought that by simply generating traffic on a website/blog, an author could earn from it 100% I have tried putting this kind of advertisement before but it just didn't work for me. As a blogger who constantly do blog hopping, I stumbled upon Eli's post on Net Audio Ads PayPerPlay click. Immediately, I tried to search for it and read what is all about because this is something new for me, I guess.

With Net Audio Ads, publishers (website owners) will earn revenue on 100% of their traffic... no clicks necessary!

The System is a way for advertisers (Like Harley Davidson or Taco Bell) to serve a 5 second audio advertisement to website visitors. It is a way for advertisers to target their 5 second audio ad to specific interests, demographics and geographic locations.

NetAudioAds™ is not new, it has been running for 2 ½ years, has over 66,000 advertisers and over 550,000 websites responsible for up to 43 million streams (impressions) of advertisers' 5 second audio ads on a monthly basis.

Ending? I have signed up for this. I am just yet to put the code in this blog. :)

Another Opportunity
Friday, November 02, 2007
With the recent PR update, it opened my door to a lot more opportunities. However, I just don't feel good everytime I would miss out an opportunity or when my "fee" is being deducted by a particular service website who hooked me up with the advertisers.
I have been doing bunny blog hopping when I came across a blog from California and saw a paid-blogging site called Bloggertizer. Upon entering and registering my blog to this site, I was greeted with various blog where I can also see theri stats which include Yahoo, Google and MSN back links together with Alexa and Page rank. One more thing I like about Bloggertizer is the fact that I would only get to write about the things that I like. I didn't actually sign up with those paid blogging sites where I will be forced to write about 100 rehab centers or 20 flight destinations sites. LOL
This paid blogging site is new. I hope that this is not like the other paid blogging site where it took them 3 long months before I was paid with the 2 articles I have written for the advertisers. So I ma akeeping my fingers crossed with Bloggertizer!

What a way to end my day!
Sunday, October 28, 2007
After posting my last entry on my wedding update, I decided to check PPP to see if there is any available opportunity for me. Doing paid opps has been put into halt for a while now since we are busy attending our wedding needs. To my surprise, I saw 15 available opps for me! Since I am using Russell's notebook (which by the way has a very weird set up), I thought that these opps are just featured opps and just like the usual, I might not get even one of it. Out of curiosity I checked out one and while reading the requirements, I saw that the minimum page rank required is 3. I was puzzled. I immediately looked into my page checker and walla! I got a PR4! Wow, I am really overwhlemed. This blog used to be a private blog. I only made this into a public blog sometime in June and I just enjoyed writing the happenings in my life. What I thought before was, if I am gonna die, at least some few people will know how I existed. Anyway, going back to this good news---I was only hoping for a PR 2 but what I got if really really enough of what I wished for. I just feel so ecstatic right now. Really, thanks to the latest PR Update!

RSS or Atom Feed?
Monday, August 20, 2007
I've been researching the net and trying soOoOOoo hard what does syndication means and how it could help my log. Then I came across RSS and Atom Feed. No matter how simple the authors explained the many ways I could I create my own feed, I guess my brain cells are just too lazy to absorb all the techy things these authors are discussing. Talk about manic Monday.

Paging those IT geek and techno savy people: Can you explain to me in a lay man's term what is this for? How could I create one? Or shamelessly I would ask, would you care creating one for me?

By the way, this post marks my 100th post in this blog.... ahoyYyYY!!

Ruther-Hernandez.com?!
Wednesday, August 08, 2007
I'm thinking of getting my own domain name: Ruther-Hernandez.com. That's RUssell and THEResa-Hernandez.com. I know it sounds a 'lil corny but I don't give a fart. It's what I want and I am going to be the one who will pay for that.

I barely know HTML. Much worse, I am a CSS dumb. As much as I want to study and get myself more familiar with CSS, I can't! I don't have the time (yet). I don't have the time to pluck my eye browse. Can't even go to the salon to have my hair done.. LOL

Now my problem is, where could I buy cheap domain? How would I go about customizing the design?

I'm getting tired of this blogspot account. I want something new. I want a site that I could say, "hey, that is MINE!". Something that will really reflect my personality. Something that represents who I am; some sense of identity.

If I am going to buy my own domain, would anyone of you help me build and design my own site? HhHhhhhhmmmM.... any volunteer(s)?

Fastest Way to Get Paid for Blogging
Wednesday, July 25, 2007

As I go blog hopping from one blog to another, I can't help but notice banner statement like "advertise on blogs".

I have seen quite a number of fellow bloggers who signed up for paid blogging
. At first, I really didn't bother to sign up for any of these paid blogging as my purpose why I blog is to chronicle some important events in my life.

Then I stumbled upon supermom Kathy's blog where I read that she signed up for Smorty.

As I get to know fellow bloggers who get paid for blogging, I was kind of hesitant on how one can really earn money while blogging. So I tried researching first before signing up with this one.

WHAT: Smorty is like a
middleman, a merchant who connects advertisers with bloggers. Just like other paid blogging campaigns, what Smorty members need to do is to write something (opinion or review) with links back to the advertiser. Pretty easy eh?

HOW: However, Smorty has set some criteria before your blog can be approve. Here are just a few to consider before signing up.
  • blog must be at least 3 months month
  • indexed by google and yahoo
  • must have average of two post per week
  • you must have a paypal account- this is the only way Smorty can pay you for every post that you make
With these, I signed up my blog today and instantly, I got two assignments already waiting for my approval. Now, that was really fast!!!

So if your blog meets the above requirements, why not sign up for Smorty? After all, there is no harm in trying. :)
